Biostimulant legislation in The Republic of Cyprus

Here, you can find the basic information about the legislation governing Biostimulants in the Republic of Cyprus.
If you have any questions, reach out us.
      • Summary

Cyprus being a EU Member State, fertiliser and biostimulants can be placed on the market either as a EC fertiliser or as a national, non-EC Fertiliser.
"Biostimulants" would rather be called "special preparations" under Cypriotic legislation.
Products that are placed on the market under the European Fertliser Regulation 2019/1009 do not require separate registration in Cyprus. Only the EC label must be translated into greek language.
Other fertiliser and biostimulants must be registered in Cyprus, be it through direct registration or Mutual Recognition from a different Member State. To register a product in Cyprus, the person signing the registration application must be a permanent resident of Cyprus.
Applications for new and Mutual Recognitions products are evaluated by a Technical Committee. Mutual Recognition is possible in Cyprus, based on an official certificate from the competent authoritiy or Chamber of Commerce in the originating EU Member State.
The application dossier includes an invoice to prove that the product is sold in the originating EU Member State, chemical analysis and the original and translated product label. A fee of EUR 85.43 must be paid for evaluation of the application.
Submissions are made electronically or physically to the headquarters of the Department of Agriculture in Nicosia.
